A pandemic project that grew into something more…
From 2020-2022 I collaborated with Author (and Aunt) Summer Porter on a charming children's story inspired by my hometown, Mackinac Island. "A Mouse Tail on Mackinac Island" is a tale about a family of mice who start a new life and the many adventures they face along the way. It was published by Modern History Press and is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and select stores on Mackinac Island.
Bringing "A Mouse Tail on Mackinac Island" to life
As a first-time children's book illustrator, this was an entirely new process for me, and I eagerly embraced it! I started by sketching out various ideas and concepts, with a focus on creating lovable and relatable characters. Inspired by my own family, I used elements from home to help inform the visual direction. The journey of bringing this charming story to life was a dream come true and I am proud to know it will be enjoyed by families for generations.
